our balloon had a neat contraption that allowed it to take aerial pictures of the whole group in the balloon - the camera hung on the exterior on a sort of trapeze-like contraption while our pilot held the remote and clicked to snap! It made for some great group shots up, up and away

THE VALLEY OF THE QUEENS

There is a Valley of the Kings and a Valley of the Queens, as well as the Valley of the Nobles, but with our short time in the area, we are visiting the best of the best of the Valleys. Our first stop was Queen Hatshepsut's Temple. An interesting story and signs of girl power from way back when - in the land where only men were pharoahs. When her husband's son, from a lesser wife, was to take reign at a young age, Hatshepsut stepped into the spot, controlling the affairs of the state until he came of age. However, in her 7th year of reigning, Hatshepsut broke with tradition and had herself crowned pharoah of Egypt.

AUSTRALIA'S WINE COUNTRY - THE BAROSSA VALLEY

Today we set off from Kangaroo Island for our shortest flight of the Journey - a whopping 15 minutes for most - as we made our way across the channel to Adelaide. The 15 minutes turned into 4 hours after we experienced a flight plan delay in Kangaroo Island. Lesson learned about flying in remote areas on a Sunday. A 1 hour and a half drive had us arriving in Barossa  Valley, the Napa of Australia, to sample some of Australia's best wine. On the agenda was Peter Lehmann, Penfolds and Torbreck wineries.
