A SIDE TRIP TO HIROSHIMA
With our planes in Nagoya, we planned an overnight near the airport to avoid the hassles of taking an early train back from Kyoto the morning of our intended flight. Instead, we leisurely made our way to Nagoya in preparation for our flight tomorrow. This ultimately provided a free day in Japan to do as we pleased.
Kyoto is a short 1 hour 40 min bullet train ride from Hiroshima, so several of the group opted to visit this historical city prior to heading towards Nagoya. The A-bomb Dome, Peace Park Memorial and the Peace Park National Museum remind us all of the destruction caused by nuclear weapons.

A-Bomb Dome was the only standing building in its surroundings after the atomic bomb hit on August 6, 1945. This building stands only 160 meters from ground zero.
We were all so impressed by the Japanese bullet train - 1 hour 40 minutes for Kyoto to Hiroshima and 2 hours 10 minutes for Hiroshima to Nagoya
