MOUNT ETNA, BE NICE
We've had our encounters with active volcanoes on this Journey, thank you Bali, however, a visit to Sicily is not complete without a visit to Mount Etna. This active volcano continuously throws ash into the air and provides tremors throughout the year. The people of Sicily have grown accustomed to its restlessness and have rather learned to embrace it and all it has to offer.
We headed out to discover Mount Etna up close and personal - well, as close as tourists are allowed to visit.
Our first stop was to the lava flows of the 1992 eruption. The slowness of the flow left a unique path, covering some homes, while others were spared. The lava flow we were stepping on measure nearly 20 feet from the ground.

Our climb of Mount Etna, by bus of course, continued to a location further up where 7 craters were easily navigated for us to get a better understanding of what Mount Etna entails. There are over 300 craters on Mount Etna that have arose through the years.
