PLAN B - LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA

Since our stop in Bali was cancelled due to Mount Agung's unrest, which by the way is still tremoring but has yet to erupt, we have added a 2 night stay in Langkawi, Malaysia at the beloved Four Seasons Langkawi. One thing we know from these Journeys is we need our r&r to stay sharp for our flights and remove any fatigue we are experiencing.

We have been to Langkawi several times in the past, on our previous Journeys Around the World. The Four Seasons Langkawi offers a beautiful property, a nice set  up, calm and quiet location. 


Langkawi airport is not too busy, offering a nice change from the madness experienced in Bali and the approach/arrival into Singapore.  An added benefit is that it is not too far from our initial routing for our flight to Sri Lanka, it is even closer to Sri Lanka which shortens our flying day when it's time to go.

ARE THERE KANGAROOS ON KANGAROO ISLAND?

After settling in at the Ocean Lodge and a quick bite to eat, we launched on our quest for Kangaroos in the wild. We weren't sure what to expect, how many would we be able to see - this was a first visit for me and all the members of our group. Boy did it not disappoint... Here they are!  Our first spotting of the kangaroos, hundreds of them! They outnumber people who inhabit the island. They spend their days grazing the grass in the open fields. They are everywhere   When standing they are the size of a small adult.  This one has a joey in her belly, or a baby kangaroo! Australians call any baby marsupial a joey. A female kangaroo can be in charge of three babies at a time - an embryo in the body, a joey in the pouch and a baby outside of the pouch.

DUBAI FOUNTAIN SHOW

Our final night in Dubai we headed to downtown Dubai towards the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, for a fun evening out. We dined at the Italian prime spot Bice Mare for a front row seat to the famous Fountain Show. A great final evening in Dubai.
